Graded Tests

We graded some tests to day in class.  There is no homework.

Come Holy Spirit

We continued reciting the Come Holy Spirit prayer.  Monday will be the final day to recite the prayer and receive full credit.

Come Holy Spirit

We worked on memorizing the Come Holy Spirit prayer.  13 of 20 students have successfully recited the prayer.  Students now have till Monday to successfully recite the prayer.

Come Holy Spirit Prayer

Students began reciting the Come Holy Spirit Prayer.  We had 4 students complete the assignment.  Father Edward also came in and lectured on Anointing the Sick and Holy Orders.

Holy Day

No religion class today because we had mass.  The 7th grade was in charge of mass and did a great job.

Shortened Class

Class was shortened due to the character counts assembly.  We prepared for Monday's mass.

Come Holy Spirit Prayer

Students began learning and memorizing the prayer, Come Holy Spirit.  By next Friday, students must be able to recite the prayer with no errors.

Father Edward

Father Edward visited today.  He did not leave an assignment for next week.

Unit 2 Test

We took the unit 2 test.  It was open book.

No Class

No class due to mass.

Chapter 6 Test

Students took the chapter 6 test.  They then worked on the Unit 2 review on page 89-89.  It is due Monday.

We finished reading and discussing chapter 6.  The review was assigned and is due tomorrow.  Also, there will be an open book test on chapter 6 tomorrow.

Green Book

Father Edward came in and taught from the green book.  He assigned a packet that is due on Tuesday, December 2nd.

We began reading and discussing chapter 6 of the religion text.

Chapter 5 Take Home Test

Students received the chapter 5 test but it is not due until Monday.

We read Chapter 5 and students were assigned the review.  It is due Friday.

We took the chapter 4 test.  There is no homework.

We went over the chapter 4 review.  We then missed the remainder of class due to the Character Counts assembly.  The test will be Monday and it will be open book.

We read Chapter 4 and the Chapter 4 review was assigned.  It is due tomorrow.

Green Book

Father Edward visited and taught from the green book.  He did not give an assignment for next week.

Citizenship

We discussed this month's character counts pillar:  Citizenship.  We also began chapter reading 4.

Unit 1 Review

We went over the unit 1 review.  The unit 1 test (chapters 1-3) is tomorrow.  It will be open book.

Chapter 3 Test

We went over the Chapter 3 review and then students took the chapter 3 test.  It was open book.  They were then assigned the unit 1 review which is due Thursday.  Also, the packet out of the green book is due tomorrow for Father Edward.

We finished reading and discussing chapter 3.  The chapter 3 review was assigned and it is due Monday.  Students can expect the test on Monday after we go over the review.  It will be open book.

We began reading chapter 3.  There is no homework.  We should finish chapter 3 tomorrow in class and students can expect an open book test on Monday.

Green Books

Father Edward came in and taught from the green books.  Students received a new packet that is due on Tuesday, the next time Father Edward visits.

Character Counts Recess

We discussed assignments for Wednesday's mass and then students had the recess that they earned due to their character counts behavior in lunch.

Chapter 2 Test

We went over the Chapter 2 Review and then students completed the Chapter 2 Test.  It was open book.

We read through Chapter 2 as a class.  The Chapter 2 review is due tomorrow.  There will probably be an open book test tomorrow for Chapter 2.

No Class

We had a double block of math today due to missing most of math class yesterday because of mass/rosary.

Green Book

Father Edward visited and taught out of the green book.  He gave a worksheet that is due in 2 weeks on Tuesday, 10/21.

Chapter 1 Test

Iowa testing is over!  Finally.  We went over the chapter 1 review and then students took the chapter 1 test.  It was open book.  Students need to bring their green book with the completed worksheet tomorrow for Father Edward's visit.

Iowa Testing Prep

We are starting Iowa Testing on Monday.  We prepared by filling out the answer documents and discussing what students can expect during the next 2 weeks of testing.

Chapter 1 Cont.

We finished reading Chapter 1 and students were assigned the Chapter 1 Review.  It is due Thursday.  Father Edward also came into class and began instructing the class.  This will happen most Tuesdays.

New Testament Books Cont.

We continued memorizing the books of the New Testament in order.  We also practiced for tomorrow's mass and practiced spelling each title of the books of the New Testament.

Today we began memorizing the books of the New Testament.  Students were shown three different YouTube videos that could be used to aide their memorization.  The videos are below.

Character Counts Cont.

We completed an activity using the pillars of character counts.  We discussed actions we'd like to see more of and actions we'd like to see less of.  We then were going to do a survivor island activity, but I found out they already did it in language arts class.

Character Counts

We discussed Character Counts today.  It is a new program that our school is instituting to improve the quality of our school.  The focus of Character Counts is on 6 pillars below:

First Day

Today we handled all of the first day stuff that needs to take place.  Students received locks, assignment notebooks, and their weekly schedule.  We also discussed some of the changes that took place for this school year.

Lesson Cont.

We continued yesterday's diocese mandated chastity lesson.

Chastity Lesson 1

HW - Finish the following activity: "Each student will copy the Ten Commandments onto a piece of paper, leaving several spaces under each commandment. Music Piracy

We had a discussion on the ethics of downloading music illegally.  Students discussed both sides of the issue, with majority agreeing that it is wrong.

We began reading chapter 13 which led to a discussion of whether downloading pirated music was wrong.  It was surprising and slightly concerning how many students did not think it was wrong.

Skunk

Students earned a day of playing Skunk because they completed the memorization and reciting of the Come Holy Spirit Prayer a day early.

We finished the Come Holy Spirit Prayer today.  Every student in the class recited the prayer.

We discussed Hobby Lobby's decision to sue the government over healthcare.  We avoided political debate an instead focused on the company's decision to follow their religious beliefs over government law.

We also started chapter 11, but were not able to complete the opening activity due to the copier being serviced.  We instead watched the video below.

We took the Chapter 10 test and practiced our readings for tomorrow's mass.
